Why Lotus is not in the new Gran Turismo game.

For sim racing fans, the countdown is on. Because the new Gran Turismo game is about to be released. Many car fans have played one of the previous editions, and many even developed a passion for cars through the game. One car brand that has been featured since the second edition of the game is Lotus. But many Lotus fans were disappointed when they could not see a Lotus in the presentation of the new game.

Unfortunately, we can confirm that Lotus will not be in the launch version of the game. But why is this?

As many know, Lotus was not in Grand Turismo Sport either, even though the Elise and Evora were in the beta version of the game. A statement at the time said that this was due to licensing issues.

Many pointed the finger at the then new owners of Lotus, Geely. Geely also owns Volvo and sports department Polestar, which are also not in the game. But who does have both brands in their game? That's Need For Speed and Forza Motorsport 7. So that would explain a lot

However, information on GTPlanet from a source at Lotus suggests a simpler reason: money. This source said that the issue is related to the nature of the licence agreement between Lotus and Gran Turismo. According to them, there was a declining profit, so the payout became less over time.

We fear this may still be the case with the new game. However, we hope that in future updates, we will still see Lotus in the game. Looking at the tweet below, it does seem that Lotus would like to return to the game, but nothing is certain of course.
